Family Binder

As you may know, I have been on a huge organizing kick lately. I found a website that has been a big help in ideas and whatnot for getting things together. It's called I Heart Organizing and it is fabulous! One of the projects on the blog is a family binder. Jen, the creator of I Heart, says that it's one of the best ways for a mom to stay organized.... so I gave it a shot.

I started with a white binder with clear pockets that I got from Target (roughly $3.00) and some scrap book paper I had in my stash. I used 12 by 12 paper which was too big so to get it the right size, I laid it on the binder and used the wrong end of a pen to make an indent all the way around. You can kind of see the line in the photo.

I added some stickers and other fun little do-dads and WaLa! Beautiful Family Binder!!

I actually bought some page dividers from Target as well but they looked so cheesy and forlorn in my pretty binder... So, I made my own. And I'm so very proud with the way they turned out. You can't read all the tabs very well with the shot but they are:
Calendar
Daily
Projects/Gifts
Blog
Menu
Auto
Finances
Info

1. Calendar

These calendar pages are taken from another mom planner that I didn't love so much. I really like the way the page is laid out.

2. Daily
At the moment, this section is filled with lined paper. This is where I take my daily notes, list the chores that need to be done, and write down numbers and whatnot.

3. Projects and Gifts
This section also just has lined paper but once I get my new printer, I will be getting a printable to better organize my many MANY craft projects and gifts.

4. Blog
I can't WAIT to get a printable to better organize my blog. I really need to get better about writing down my ideas and coming up with a schedule for posting them.

5. Menu

These couple of pages are also from another mommy binder. I love the idea of coming up with five meals and just rotating them each week. It would make my life so much easier.

6. Auto
Jen also has this in her binder and it makes me so giddy. Imagine knowing precisely when something with your car needs to be done. Scheduling maintenance is going to be so much easier. Jen's printable for this is amazing!

7. Finances
I keep track of our finances on the computer but I like to do all my computations on paper thus the finance tab.

8. Info
This is where I keep all our important information. Doctors, neighbors, hospital, etc. All in one place.

I'm SO excited to have finished this. And I think it turned out beautifully. Now, I'm on to organize my crafty mess. Wish me luck!
